What do you think? Do humans have free will, or do we just like to think, that we do? But, in fact, our lives are pre-destined, and each one is but a piece of thread in a tapestry of the universe?
When I ask my patients (or friends) this question, there seems to be both a gender and age divide. Most of women think that humans do not have free will; and most of people over 70 y old seem to feel the same.
Fate is the endless chain of causation, whereby things are; the reason or formula by which the world goes on.
Citium Zeno
The industrialization and increase of the speed of life led to us travelling a distance for work, adopting the consumerism lifestyle, spending less time with our families, having less patience for them; spending more money than we have- the stress of debt, increase in other stress- the soaring rate of divorce rate seems a natural consequence here; do you agree?
And on a smaller scale, why is it, that you are planning to cook some spicy chicken tonight? Out of sheer free will? Or is it because it smelled so nice yesterday, when you were stuck in traffic, and there was that chicken roadside place, dishing out crispy fragrant morsels.. plus your wife loves chicken, and its your anniversary soon, and you want her to be less shocked that you are buying a sports car 🙂 , so you are just being extra sweet with her, every day? :))
In which case, she really needs to thank the industrialization-heavy traffic-sports car manufacturers for a yummy dinner you are cooking her :o)
